How to reach Rohtang Pass?

The pass is located on the Leh-Manali highway. Hence, to visit the pass, one must reach Manali first. There is various transport commute available to reach Manali. You can travel to Manali from Chandigarh Airport via Shimla. Another way is to get down at New Delhi and travel via Chandigarh, Shimla, and Kulu to Manali.
The road from Manali to Rohtang pass is one of the most scenic routes to commute on. The journey to the pass itself is a memorable experience to the travelers. The local government advises tourists to travel along with someone who has proper knowledge of the roads in the area.
From Manali, one can get private taxis or Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) buses that frequently run from Manali to Rohtang Pass. Someone traveling in their private car must take a Rohtang Pass permit to travel up to Rohtang and beyond it.
The permit is issued by the District Administration and is compulsory for everyone. It is charged on the number of vehicles traveling to Rohtang. There are two types of permits: the people traveling up to Rohtang and the other for the people traveling beyond Rohtang Pass.

What to do in Rohtang Pass?

Rohtang Pass is all about enjoying and trekking through the snow-laden terrain. Although apart from sightseeing and photo sessions, a traveler has many more activities that he can enjoy there. To start with, one can hop on to a horse and take a stroll around.
Para-Gliding is a sport one always dreams of trying once, and it can be fulfilled here. Fly across the snow-covered mountains and feel the chilly winds splashing your face with a rejuvenated spirit every time.
Once you are done with flying, hop into a snow scooter and drive across the snowy terrain. This activity is both fun and can get exciting when many more people join in together.If you didn’t have enough of the sky during paragliding, give heliskiing a try. The skier is taken up into the sky above on to the mountains in a helicopter. Then they ski down until the next point where they are lifted again by helicopter. This is way less crowded and more fun than traditional resort skiing.  
Places around Rohtang Pass

Solang Valley – The valley falls en route to the Pass from Manali. The valley is said to be an ideal destination for sports and adventure lovers. Summers here offer a lust green view while the winters are covered in cotton puffed snow. Paragliding, Skiing, Zorbing are some of the most common activities in the village.  
Chandra and Bhaga – Chandra and Bhaga rivers are formed through the confluence of the melting glaciers to form the Chenab river. The riverbank offers peace to the mind and soul.
Lahaul and Spiti Valley – The valley is a joining path from India and Tibet. There are monasteries to visit here. It provides a clear view of the looming Himalayan mountains.  

Beyond Rohtang Pass

Rohtang Pass falls on the highway that leads to Leh from Manali. The Leh-Ladakh trip is incomplete if one doesn’t visit the pass while traveling there. Not to be mistaken by the way it is spoken, but Leh and Ladakh are nothing like twin cities. Ladakh is a Union Territory, Leh is a district of that Union Territory.
