The festival is celebrated in the month of September every year. Last year, it was held between; 18th to 24th of September 2017.
How is it celebrated?
Continues for almost two weeks, Ladakh festival introduces you to the unforgettable experience. During the festival, numbers of activities are organized such as archery contest, costume dances, masked dances, and polo matches. Different kinds of stalls are organized to sell unique craft items to visitors and locals. Tourists can taste local cuisine as the food stalls are also settled by locals. Thanka exhibitions and music concerts are also the best part of these festivals. Visiting the land of Ladakh for Ladakh festival brings you ultimate joy and the time that cannot be forgotten.
Several cultural troops come from the different places of the region in the inauguration ceremony in Leh. The ceremony traverses through the local market of Leh. People look so beautiful in the traditional colourful dresses they wear on this occasion.

In addition to the grand musical dance and singing performances, the other famous things to be enjoyed are wild lion and yak dances, craft exhibitions, and of course, tasting the locally brewed barley beer, called Chang.
