Itinerary

  • Day 1 Delhi-Leh arrival

    Arrive at Leh kushok bakula rinpoche airport, where you will be received by our service executive and he will transfer you to pre booked hotel at Leh. Full day rest for proper acclimatization. Overnight stay at Leh.

  • Day 2 Leh Local Monastery tour- Shey, Thiksey and Hemis.

    Today after breakfast you will visit various famous monasteries of Leh. You will visit Shey, Thik and Hemis Monastery. Shey Palace is 16 kms from Leh. It used to be the summer palace of the kings of Ladakh. There are lots of Stupas built around the palace. Shey palace was built by Deldan Namgyal in the beginning of 17Th century AD. Thiksey Monastery close to Shey is about 3 kms. Thiksey monastery also known as the Mini-Lhasa is the biggest Monastery under Gyelukpa Sect. Hemis, about 45 kms south of Leh it is one of the most famous and largest monastery in Ladakh. It belongs to the Drukpa Sect and was founded in the early 17Th century. Overnight stay at the guest house.

  • Day 3 Drive Leh-Chilling and trek to Sku.

    Walking time: drive-2 hours/ trek -4-5 hours. Easy trek: plain easy walk altitude Chilling 3158m Skyu 3312m Morning after breakfast you will drive Leh to Chilling with the drive of 2 hours. At the starting you will find an interesting and adventures to crossing Tully. Here you need to cross Zangskar River with a cable car of Tully. And we have to change the horses too. Because the horses cannot cross the other side of River. The staffs will transfer the entire luggage by tully. And the trek starts with some up and downs. You will enjoy the landscape and scenery. After noon you will Reach Sku via Kaya Overnight in Camp .

  • Day 4 Skiu to Markha

    Walking time: 6-7 hours Moderately Hard day: Very gentle ascent. Altitude: Markha: 3815m Another long day of trekking. The trail is well laid out along the Markha River. In some places you find the direction marked by Bharal Horns. Keep going as you cross the settlements of Narding, Zara and Chalak each having parachute tents. Beyond Chalak, you see green barley fields, colorful birds and huge mounds of baral horns. It takes 5 to 6 hours to reach Chalak from Skiu. From Chalak the trail ascends gradually as you pass by a trail marked with Bharal horn for directions. Observe chortens and mani walls set high above the river throughout the way. After 2 to 3 km the valley opens up and a river crossing takes you to Markha Village. Let the guide decide the best spot for the river crossing. You may find the level of water to be thigh high. The water is icy cold so better to take off your shoes and socks and pull up your pants. Once you cross over, trek for a couple of kilometres till you see a final bridge crossing. As you cross over the bridge you approach Markha -the biggest village of the area. This village has 25 houses. An old fort dated back to 1830?s can be seen here. Towards your north, look for a renovated Gompa. Look for a camping spot at a higher spot above the village. Overnight stay at Marka.

  • Day 5 Markha to Thachungtse

    Walking time: 5 hours Easy Day: Very gentle ascent Altitudes: Hankar-3897m Thachungtse: 4730m Moderate day for trekking. From the Markha village take the trail that climbs immediately to take you to upper Markha valley. The monastery and settlement on top is a nice spot to capture good photographs. From there, it?s a gradual climb along the side of the Markhariver. 2 hours of climbing brings you to Umlung. The trail goes on a ledge over the bank of the river. In two hours, spot the summit of Kang Yissay on your right. The next two dwellings enroute are Tacha and Hankar. A couple of stream crossings bring you to Tacha monastery. There is a tea shop where you may stop by and take a break. Its takes about 2 hrs from tea shop to Hankar. After Hankar a rocky and steep ascent brings you to Thochuntse camp site. Enroute you pass through green wheat fields and finally cross a stream. Overnight at Thachungtse.

  • Day 6 Thachungtse to Nimaling

    Walking time: 6 to 7 hour Moderate day: Steep ascent Altitudes: Nimaling-4730m Easy trek today. It?s a shorter 6 kms trek to Nimaling.15 minutes from the Thotchuntse campsite, the trail forks. Take the trail to the left. After an hour?s climb, the terrain is smoother, curvier. The climb becomes gradual. One and a half hours into the climb, brings you to a pond where you can fill water. A long walk on a grassy meadow brings you to Nimaling. You see gushing streams on your left with a glacier behind the Kang Yatse and to the right is the Kang Yatse peak. The campsite of Nimaling is in a broad valley and is completely exposed to strong winds. When it snows, the green of the valley turns to a complete white carpet. Yak herders from Hankar Village have temporary stone settlements here in the summer months. Overnight at Nimaling.

  • Day 7 Nimaling to Chokdo via Kongmarula

    Walking time: 6 hours Hard Day: Moderate ascent and Steep descent Altitudes: Kongmaru la- 5130m Chogdo-3980m Today is a difficult day due to the highest altitude pass crossing of the trek. From Nimaling look ahead towards Kongmaru la Pass. Cross a stream section and proceed towards the north climbing a long face of a ridge leading to Kongmaru la Pass. The hike from Nimaling to Kongmaru la pass takes around 2 hours and is a steep incline hike. At the top of the pass you will get a great view of Indus valley and Ladakh ranges. The downhill descent from the pass to Chogdo is brutal. The terrain is rocky and drops down steeply as you enter into a narrow canyon after trekking down 2 to 3 km. overnight at chogdo.

  • Day 8 Chokdo to Shangphu.

    Walking time: 5-6 hours easy-moderate day: low ascent Altitudes Shangpu: 4374m Today is an easy day with a low ascent. The trail will lead along the valley of Shangphu. After two and a half hours of walking you will reach to Shang village. Overnight camping at shang phu.

  • Day 9 Shangphu to Ganpoche 4428 mtr. 5 hrs

    walking time: 5 hours Moderate day: low ascent;low descent Altitudes Shang-la 4600m Matho phu 4509 Ganpoche 4428 Today is a moderate trek to reach Ganpoche, the trail will lead along a narrow valley. A low ascent to the shangla pass and a low descent will take you to the mato-phu. Overnight camping at Ganpoche.

  • Day 10 Ganpoche to Manikarmo.

    Walking time: 6 hours easy day:very low ascent and low descent Altitudes: Matho-la 4700m Manikarmo 4380m Today again is an easy trek day . The trail from Ganpoche will lead to matho-la. With a low ascent you will reach to the top of matho-la( a very low pass) and after a low descent will reach to Manikarmo. It is possible to see somewild animals like Ibex and if you get very lucky might get a glance of Snowpeopard on the way.Overnight stay at Manikarmo.

  • Day 11 Mankorma - Base Camp.

    walking time:4-5 hours Easy day: a easy-moderate ascent Altitudes stok kangri base camp 4900m Today we will make an early start to reach the base camp early, so that we have most of the day to restand to get acclimatized for the next day ascent. From Manikarmo to base camp the trail is a gradual ascent. It will take four to five hours to reach base camp. Camping at base camp.

  • Day 12 Base Camp - Stok Kangri-Base Camp

    walking time: 8 hours hard day: a hard ascent to the top; steep descent altitudes stok kangri top 6150m We start the climb very early in the morning to avail the best weather conditions and to enjoy the beautiful sunrise at the summit. The trail will lead to a climb onto a ridge which leads to a large glacier. Cross the glacier and ascend steeply to the summit. The last leg of the climb is most difficult and demands a lot of physical and mental strength. After the hard climb you will be rewarded with the most beautiful and panoramic view of the snow capped peaks of ladakh. To the north-west you will get the beautiful view of the Karakoram Range, including the mighty K2 (8611 m). One can also see the Zanskar Range and view Tibet in the distance. After the spiritual and soul moving experience at the top, descent back to the base camp. Overnight at the camp.

  • Day 13 Base Camp - Stok village - Leh

    Walking time: trek-6 hours/drive-2 hour. Easy-moderate day: moderate descent Altitudes Stok 3500m Today the trail from base camp will descend all the way to Stok village. The trail will pass by numerous ruins of old forts and castles. It takes about six hours to reach Stok village where the taxi will be waiting for us. We then drive two hours back to Leh enjoy a meal and some well earned drinks at the hotel. Overnight in the Hotel.

  • Day 14 Leh Departure

    Today your tour will come to an end as you depart from leh with the mesmerizing and the beautiful memories of the himalyas.
