Overview

This route will take you through on one of the remotest and distant parts of ladakh, where the lifestyle of the villager has been remained untouched by the western or modern changes elsewhere in ladakh. It will be true to say that the only outside influence on this areas is the trekker, and as a trekker it is important that you respect the local culture and traditions and behave appropriately. Itinerary

  • Day 1 Leh Arrival

    Leh arrival at kushok bakula rinpoche airport, where you will be received by the service executive and will be transferred to the hotel. Full day rest for acclimatization. Overnight at leh hotel.

  • Day 2 Visit Leh

    A whole day at leisure in Leh. You can visit some of the most famous and oldest monasteries of Ladakh (15th and 17th century), Thiksey, Shey and Hemis and take a walk to the colorful bazaar. Overnight at Hotel.

  • Day 3 Leh to kargil(220km-8 hrs drive)

    Today after breakfast you will drive to kargil, enroute visit Hall of fame-army war memorial, Magnetic Hill-which defies the laws of gravity, Patharsahib Gurudwara and the confluence of the might Indus and Zanskar river. Overnight stay at kargil hotel.

  • Day 4 :kargil to Padum(250km-10hrs drive)

    After breakfast drive to padum the starting point of the trek. Overnight camping/homestay at padum

  • Day 5 Padum via Karsha to Pishu(Walking time: 7 hours/easy-moderate day: normal distance; almost flat./Altitudes:Padum-3530m,pishu-3430m)

    A pleasant walk through fields. On the way we will visit Pepiting monastery and the Karsha Gompa--one of the most important in Zanskar and dating back to the 15th century. We have beautiful panoramic vistas of the full Himalayan range

  • Day 6 Pishu ? Hanumil(Walking time: 6 hours/Easy day: Flat terrain/Altitudes:Hanumil-3380m)

    Following the zanskar valley walk along the right bank takes us to Rinam village. Before you reach Hanumil, the trail descends to a side stream, crosses it, and as you climb to the top of opposite bank, you are welcomed by a walk through chorten that forms the entrance to pigmo village. From Pigmo, it is a further 2 to 3 hours walk to hanumil. We continue to the tiny hamlet of Hanumil which only consist of two houses. Overnight stay at hanumil.

  • Day 7 Hanumil to snertse(walking time: 5-6 hours/Hard day: Long walk; ascent to passes; sharp descent./Altitudes:Parfi-la-3900m,Snertse-3740m)

    Upon leaving Hanumil, the trail continues along the riverbank for a while, and then climbs up to a small plateau before coming to a steep hill. From here, the trail transverse dangerously across the hillside, until you start the ascent to Parfi-la (3900m), from where the panorama towards the Ladakhi and Zanskari ranges is quite impressive. After reaching the modest Parfi-la, you face a steep descent before continuing on to Snertse. Overnight camp at Snertse.

  • Day 8 Snerstse ? lingshed(walking time:- 5-6 hours/moderate day: steep descent/altitudes:Hanumana-la-4710m)

    After Snertse, the trail keeps criss crossing a side stream of the Oma chu for the next two hours of walking. Follow the trail up the valley and you begin to ascent the Hanumana-la. From the pass you have a wonderful view of Lingshed and surrounds. Visit of Lingshed monastery located on the far side of the village. Overnight stay at Linshed.

  • Day 9 Lingshed ? Singee la base camp(Walking time: 5 hours/Easy day: low passes to cross/altitudes:Murgum-la: 4350m,Kiupa La:4450m,Singee la base camp: 4400m)

    We start a long and gradual ascent to the Murgum la pass(4350m),from the pass, the trail descends for abiut 30 minutes to the tiny hamlet of skyumpatta. The trail than leads to the next village of Gongma,from wgere you start ascent to kiupa la(4450m). After a gradual descent you will reach to the base camp of singee la pass. Overnight camping at the base camp.

  • Day 10 Singee la base to photoksar(Walking time: 7-8 hours/Moderate Day: long distance; easy ascent to pass/Altitudes:Singee la-4960m,Photokasr-4120m)

    From Singee la base camp, the gentle ascent to singee la takes upto 3 hours. From the pass you get great views of a snow capped peak. The trail now descends for 30 minutes to Singee-la base camp(north).the trail on the west bank continues over a low pass Bumitse la- to photoksar. Overnight camping/homestay at photoksar.

  • Day 11 Photoksar - Hanupatta .(Walking time: 6 hours/Moderate Day: long distance; ascent to pass/Altitudes:Sisur la -4805m,Hanupatta-3810m)

    as you leave photoksar the trail that follows the river immediately starts ascent to Sisur-la pass, which will take you about 3 hours to complete. From the pass descent until you come to a bridge. Cross the bridge and continue along the trail for about 2 hours to reach the herders settlement of Amat.continue along the easy trail a little further to reach the village of Hanupatta. Overnight camping/homestay at Hanupatta.

  • Day 12 Hanupatta ? Wanla.(Walking time: 6-7 hours/Easy day: No ascent/Altitudes-Panji-la pass: 3410m,Wanla: 3200m)

    We head down towards the Photang valley passing through the narrow gorge. The gorge soon ends and the trail leads to a bridge , where the trek route turns into a jeep tarck on the approach to panjila. A low ascent to the Panjila pass. We finally descend to Wanla and visit its tiny monastery. Overnight stay at wanla.

  • Day 13 Wanla - Lamayuru (Walking time: 5 hours/Easy day: short walk; ascent to low pass.Altitudes:Lamayuru-3450m)

    Today walk will be very easy. After passing through the village of hinju you will reach Lamayuru. Visit the monastery at Lamayuru, which is the biggest in western Ladakh and was built in the 16th century on the site of a much older temple. The gompa is very well kept and famous for its many colorful wall paintings. (You can either camp at lamayuru or drive directly to leh in the evening). Overnight at lamayuru.

  • Day 14 Lamayuru to Leh

    Today you will depart from leh to delhi. The tour has been ende and we hope you are leaving with the beautiful and spiritual memories of ladakh and Himalayas. (Note ? The same trek can be arranged for you anti-clockwise i.e, from Lamayuru to Padum. The route will remain same, only change will be that you are following the trail from Lamayuru to Padum. )

  • Day 15 Leh-departure

    Today you will depart from leh to delhi. The tour has been ende and we hope you are leaving with the beautiful and spiritual memories of ladakh and Himalayas. (Note ? The same trek can be arranged for you anti-clockwise i.e, from Lamayuru to Padum. The route will remain same, only change will be that you are following the trail from Lamayuru to Padum. )
