Overview

Lasting for almost two weeks, this 12 Nights 13 Days Rupshu Trek is a culturally-enriching experience. As a part of Ladakh tourism, you get to visit Thiksey and Hemis monasteries and view the majestic Zanskar range and glacier.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 Leh to Gya-Lato (75 Km)

    Thiksey and Hemis monasteries, camping site is near by small village with few house in between cliff on one side and the barren mountain on the other side (3900m) the scenery of the valley, the cool breeze prepares the glacier and the whispering of the stream prepares the mind and bodies to appreciates the beauty of the nature for the next 10 days.

  • Day 2 Lato to Lalung pass base camp (6 Hrs)

    Six hour trekking ascends and encamp at the base camp of the Lalung pass (4800m), beautiful overhead view of snowy peak.

  • Day 3 Lalung base camp to Nirmaling (7 Hrs)

    Seven hours trekking, crossing Lalung-la (5200m), and camp on the camping ground in Nimaling (4500m).

  • Day 4 Nimaling to Langthangchan (6 Hrs)

    Six hours trekking, up and along the stream. Crossing the bridge of Thachungtse and to to left near upper Hankar. After crossing two times river arrives at green pasture with shepherds grazing sheep. Encamp at (4000m).

  • Day 5 Langthangchan to Kharnak (7 Hrs)

    Seven hours trekking through, the valley and crossing the Zalungkarpo-la (5200m), from the top a gorgeous view of Zanskar range and glacier. Encamp at (4000m), near byKharnak village. A beautiful view Kharnak palace from the campsite.

  • Day 6 Kharnak to Sorra or datt (7 Hrs)

    Seven hours easy trekking, along the Kharnak stream which Kunik and Khar stream from the left side, few river crossing and arrives at the most exciting place so the whole trek, Leh trinity junction, represented by left valley along the clear water stream, through the trees up to the Sora village and encamp at (4200m). Datt village, encamp at (4200m).

  • Day 7 Datt to lungmochey (8 Hrs)

    Eight hours trekking through the wilderness and pasture, crossing Tarlapass (4900m). the source of water for six hours of trek is only a hidden spring before Yarla pass wild ass, yak and nomad are seen. Encamp at (4500m), on a green ground.

  • Day 8 Lungmochey to zara or spangchen (7 Hrs)

    Seven hours trekking, up and down through the wilderness and encamp at (4200m).

  • Day 9 Spangchen to Tsokar (7 Hrs)

    Seven hours easy trekking up and down through a green valley, crossing the line of control for grazing between Kharnak and Rupshu and encamp at (4800m) beautiful view of the lake and ThukjeGompa far on the other side and the village Nuruchen on the right side. The wild as can be seen grazing on the pastures on the right of the lake.

  • Day 10 Tsokar to nurchen (7 Hrs)

    Seven hours easy trekking, through Nuruchen village with fifteen houses and small monastery of Ladakh, Rachung pass gorgeous view of Rachungkaru looks likes a little Tibet with many Nomadic (Changpas), sheep, dogs, yaks nadetc in their pathed systematically on eash side of a clear whispering broke encamp at (4400m).

  • Day 11 Nuruchen to Gyama Sumdo (7 Hrs)

    Seven hours of trekking, up and down crossing a pass (4,800m) beautiful Landscape. Encamp by stream on green patch (4200m).

  • Day 12 Gyama Sumdo to Tsomoriri (8 Hrs)

    Eight hours of trekking a narrow valley and finally arrives at Korzok village beside the lake, Tsomoriri lake is 29x8 kms. With it crystal clear lake is an ideal place to watch birds.

  • Day 13 Tsomoriri Laketo Leh (220 km)

    Early breakfast times to go around the lake and the village of Korzok and leave for Leh. Almost seven hours drive through wilderness valley and Chumathang village with hot spring and runs along the side of Indus penetrating trough Rocky Mountains suddenly open up in the valley of Leh.
