Padum is the capital & headquarter of Zanskar and the village Sani is located just 6 km before it. Sani is the monastery that hosts the whole festival program. People love to participate in musical dance performances with their creative & colourful masks.

The people here are so warm to welcome each other and love to share thoughts and happiness. The main objective of celebrating this festival is to showcase the victory of Good over evil. The Sani Monastery Festival is also called the Nunges.

However the date is not fixed for celebrating this festival but usually, it is celebrated in the month of July every year. The whole event is a kind of blissful experience in the shadow of mighty mountains.
